Measuring the behavior of materials via specific procedures such as tension or shear tests aids in designing sound and safe products. d3VIEW supports this process by offering tools such as Material Calibration workers in our Workflows application. Recently, two new workers have been created for this, Key Value Generate Part Contours and Curves Generate Part Contours Animation, which help visualize forces and energies from testing by mapping them as colored contours on a material specimen.
The Key Value Generate Part Contours worker takes part id values from data curves and contours them as entity ids on the specimen.
The Curves Generate Part Contours Animation worker maps curve data, such as section forces, onto parts as a function of time animating the change in data onto the specimen.
The old standard contours method has constrictions for elements and nodes, while the method used in these workers offers flexibility, going beyond mapping just the contact forces on the assembly and creating fringe patterns for internal energies, sectional forces and much more.
As stated above, Material Calibration workers are just a fraction of what d3VIEW has to offer for material testing. Check out the Material Calibration Solutions page to find out more.
